Plant Dev on all 11 Finger Lakes

My current photo project was inspired by Alice Cazenave after she showed a group of Roc analog photographers how to develop 35mm film with plants. Alice is a founder of The Sustainable Darkroom whose plant development recipe I have used for this photo project.

I am going to all 11 finger lakes to shoot a roll of film at each one and am developing the film on site with the plant development method. It’s a special way to connect with the people I bring with me and the place I am in. It’s sparked research and important conversation about being ecologically responsible as an artist in 2025 and has also brought me to examine Kodak’s past in how their footprint continues to impact the region and wider world.
